Anne Cunningham

Anne Cunningham studied Printed Textiles at Middlesex University (BA hons.) and subsequently set up her own design studio in Shoreditch, London in 1986, representing herself and other designers.
She worked as a successful textile designer for 20 years, for both US and UK clients, such as: Habitat, Heals, Marks and Spencer, Macy's, and Osh Kosh B'Gosh.

Since living in Cambridge Anne has extended her passion for colour. The starting points for her recent collage work are colour studies of the seasons, parts of which are then enlarged and developed.
Although the works that result are predominantly abstract, through their use of colour, composition and texture they make allusions to landscape, architecture and the seasons.
In this way, Anne plays with how painting can subtly refer to something outside of itself.
